Job Description

Paylead’s legal team is growing and we are excited to welcome a new Legal Counsel !

Reporting directly to Caroline, our Head of Legal and DPO, you will play a key role in shaping and implementing Paylead’s legal and compliance strategy. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support Paylead’s continuous growth and innovation.

Your mission will be to protect Paylead’s interests and effectively manage legal risks.

You will closely collaborate with all Paylead teams regarding a wide range of topics.  You will be a real business partner for all stakeholders, you will analyze complex issues and provide customized solutions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

MISSIONS

Under the supervision of Caroline, you will work on a diverse range of legal topics and challenges:

  • Draft and update our contract templates.

  • Negotiate various types of contracts with our clients (financial institutions and brands), partners, and suppliers. To do so, you will collaborate closely with the Operations and Sales teams.

  • Define the legal framework for new functionalities or services in collaboration with Product, Operations, Tech, Data, and Sales teams.

  • Lead legal workshops with financial institutions for the implementation of loyalty programs (user onboarding journey, review of T&Cs and privacy policies, etc.), ensuring alignment with best practices and internal guidelines.

  • Support our DPO on data protection matters, as GDPR compliance is at the core of our activities (negotiation of GDPR appendices, reviewing and documenting data processing, legal analysis, DPIA, etc).

  • Assist all Paylead teams with legal topics related to our activities. Your ability to simplify and synthesize legal concepts will be essential.

  • Promote legal awareness within Paylead and act as a trusted business partner.

  • Manage debt collection and handle potential litigation cases.

  • Conduct global legal monitoring relevant to our business activities.

  • Occasional support our CFO with corporate and social topics.

Preferred Experience

💼  Qualified lawyer (admitted to the French Bar) or legal counsel with at least 2/3 years of experience (preferably in digital, marketing, fintech or banking sectors).

📝  Strong expertise and affinity in contract negotiation, GDPR, IP, and IT laws.

📊  Basic technical and data knowledge (APIs, WebView, AI models, databases, etc.) to facilitate exchanges with internal teams.

💬 Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

💰  Familiar with financial flows and financial regulations (PSD2, DORA, etc).

🥇 Proactive, autonomous, detail-oriented and positive attitude.

🏀 Team player and trusted business partner, solution-driven, with the ability to make informed decisions based on risk assessment.

⚖️  Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.

📢  Excellent level of French and English (spoken and written).

✒️ Basic knowledge in Corporate laws will be a bonus.

Recruitment Process

1/ First interview with Caroline, our Head of Legal and DPO, to briefly introduce ourselves (15mins via Google Meet).

2/ Second interview with Caroline to discuss your experience and motivation in depth (1 hour via Google Meet).

3/ You will be invited for an on-site interview to work on practical cases (to assess your legal and risks assessment skills).

4/ You will meet some others members of Paylead teams in our Paris offices.
